Chapter on “Anarchist Institutions” in new book

I have a chapter on “Anarchist Institutions” out now in a book called Anarchisms published by Dog Section Press in collaboration with Active Distribution.

The book is a wonderful collection of chapters by Ruth Kinna, Benjamin Zephaniah, Peter Gelderloos, Spencer Beswick, Zoe Baker, Seth Wheeler, Jessica Thorne, Koshka Duff, Carne Ross and Lorenzo K. Ervin.

Anarchisms is available from Dog Section Press now and will be distributed in the US by AK Press starting soon. Dog Section Press also shares a free PDF online of their books, so you can access that now here!

Gavin Grindon says: “These short and accessible essays are each a joyful provocation. Each chapter is a tender reminder that anarchism’s diversity is not a list of theories but is made by many ways of living and acting together. Anarchisms is a collection of personal invitations to embrace possibility.”

My chapter discusses the history and function of institutions like infoshops and lays out five characteristics of successful anarchist institutions: internal democracy, reliable funding, anchored in everyday life of members, participation in outward-facing political projects, and use as a means of movement building rather than an end in itself.
